Inkjet Inks

inksInkjet ink manufacturers turn to Microfluidics to solve the challenges of color depth, clogging and drying. Inks must be deagglomerated to create uniform and stable dispersions. This requires very high pressures and an extremely narrow distribution, as the tolerance for outlier particle sizes is extremely low, especially in high resolution applications. Particle size reduction with a narrow distribution is essential for success.

Particle Size Reduction

Microfluidizer high shear fluid processors are frequently used to reduce particle size to less than 100 nm by some of the most discriminating companies in the inkjet ink industry. Microfluidics is able to achieve these results by generating higher shear than other method (by orders of magnitude) while remaining fully scalable for production.

Uniformity

Inkjet ink providers have extremely strict requirements and standards regarding particle size distribution. Achieving an average particle size reduction goal is not enough - even a handful of larger particles can clog tiny inkjet nozzles. Unlike other processors, Microfluidics utilizes unique fixed-geometry interaction chambers which provide consistent shear for processing. This creates particle sizes with the narrowest possible distribution possible, thereby minimizing outliers to prevent clogging and ensure fast-drying inks.

Production Efficiency

Microfluidizer processors scale up in a linear manner, ensuring repeatable results not found elsewhere. In addition, our machines are designed to run in a continuous process, a significant value advantage for customers.
